Last week when I posted my 30 pound milestone, a couple of people asked for some “before” and “after” pictures. Well for me, there is no “after,” but I’ll be happy to post some “before” and “during” pictures for those of you who would like to see what an extra 31 pounds on a guy’s face looks like. For some reason, I carry a lot of my extra weight in my face. And while I’ve definitely gotten smaller in my waist and chest area, my face is where you can see it the most.
So I went back to the end of October and tried to find some pictures of me that document my journey so far. I have to say that I look like a much different person today than I did on Oct 31. So, take a look at the new and still improving Mac.

This is absolutely the most embarrassing picture I’ve ever seen of myself. I can’t believe I’m posting for everyone in the world to see. The only good thing about it is that my crow’s feet are covered up in fat.

By Christmas of ’07 I was already showing signs of improvement. But I still had a long way to go. Isn’t the kid a cutie!

In March, we went to Hawaii. I took my shirt off on the beach and didn’t feel terribly about it. I did it again last weekend and didn’t even think about it.

We went to visit Pam’s parents in May. I think white is my color! Isn’t the kid a cutie! Check out the flaming SPF 10million swim suit.

Here I am as of last night. Look at those crow’s feet no longer covered in fat! I’ll take them any day.
On the fitness and diet front this week, I’ve suffered a small setback. My weight was down this morning, but that’s because I haven’t been eating at all. Some nasty little GI bug has been eating at me. So instead of exercising and eating, I’ve been napping when my kids nap, and laying around as much as they’ll let me. They haven’t gotten it yet and I’m feeling better so maybe we’ll make it through this one relatively unscathed. And, I have managed to get my pushups in this week, but they’re really hard for me. Next week will be better!

Fantastic pictures! It’s very amazing how losing a little bit of weight each week can add up over time.
Congrats on your success thus far. These pictures will serve as inspiration to your readers. Please keep up the great work!

Wow. Good job!
Wow you can really see the difference. Great job!! Hope you’re feeling better soon.
Awesome progress – you should be very proud of what you’ve accomplished!
Impressive!
I bet this will motivate you more than anyone else to keep up the good work.
Great pics and congrats on the progress. Get better soon and good luck on the rest of your journey.
Excellent! I’ve got some in progress images too: http://realtegan.blogspot.com/2008/06/unrelated-to-anything-else.html
It’s really rewarding to see the progress. People kept telling me to take “before” pictures, but I was very uncomfortable doing it. I wish now that I’d taken more.
You look great and your kids are frickin’ adorable! I think it’s great that you’ve got them in the pictures with you because it reminds you why you’re doing this.
OMG you look SOOOOOO much better!!!! Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!
Congrats! You can really see the changes.
I became pretty good friends with a vendor I used to work with back in my adversting days. She was quite overweight (by 100 lbs. + probably). My boss was also quite overweight (by and even larger amount probably). The vendor told me one day that she used to joke with my boss about the one advantage that she could think of to being severely overweight – no wrinkles.
You look fantastic. You should be really proud of yourself.
Wow you look great!!! Congrats!
Looking good, Mac!
What’s amazing is that despite the “crow’s feet,” you look SO MUCH younger now!!
I’m so glad you are feeling good about yourself!
Wow, that is amazing. I can’t believe the difference. Congrats, man, keep it up!

Great progress mate!
Great job! You look good.
Wow, I very rarely comment but you look fantastic! And I think you need to hear that from one person after all your hard work.
I bet Pam is loving strutting around with her new fit husband!
p.s. Your kids are adorable!
Whoops, I meant “you need to hear that from one MORE person”

You are proof that the seemingly impossible is really quite possible!

Hi Mac! I very much enjoy your site and have been a facebook fan for a while now. I’m just now going back over some of you past posts and notice that all the photos are missing? Is this just a temporary maintenance type thing, or are they gone for good? The before and during photos are of particular interest to me as they are such great inspiration! Keep up the good work!
Tanny…HOPEFULLY they’ll be back soon. I know they’re an integral part of the experience at GFS and I’m working on it. Thanks for pointing it out though. Mac
