This week has been really good. I’ve been eating well both in terms of counting my calories and hitting the appropriate ratios. I’ve also had really productive workouts both in the gym and on the roads.
It certainly seems like everything is starting to fall back into place. The graph below is automatically generated when I step on my scale every morning. The scale uploads my weight, BMI, and body fat % to the my.withings.com and to the daily burn. Then when I get on the computer, the weight is already there and I’m ready to analyze my progress. It’s pretty slick. You can see that in the last seven days, I’ve dropped about 2.5 pounds. It’s pretty hard to tell, but my body fat has dropped from 18.1 to 17.5% also. (Remember, I know that the body fat numbers probably aren’t accurate, but I’m hoping that the decrease is accurate)
Needless to say, I’m really happy with this past week. What makes me the happiest is that I’ve been running a calorie deficit and not been hungry at all. Eating throughout the day, drinking lots of water, decreasing my carb intake to around 40% seem to really do the trick when it comes to feeling full.
I hope that I’ve really found the answer to getting those last few pounds off my frame. I’m not expecting to drop 2.5 pounds every week, but this was certainly a good start. Hopefully I’ll keep it going!

This scale has been getting a bit of press lately and I can see why; it’s a pretty cool device. The option of having the scale tweet your weight sounds like a great motivational tool. I just can’t afford to pay $160 for a scale at the moment. I’ve been using the LoseIt iPhone app to record my weight on an almost daily basis. They have a web interface now that makes it easy to monitor your progress. I think they are also mixing in a bit of social networking too. I think DailyBurn does this as well. Have you given any thought to tweeting your weight? I already follow @leos_scale (leo laporte) and just seeing the weight related tweets reminds me to stick to eating healty.
Really impressive progress this week! That scale you’ve got is pretty neat, I may have to look into getting one of those.

That is a cool scale! Is it in stores or only the internet sites?
Seth–I believe it’s only available on the internet. I was able to get free shipping (though it took forever to arrive) by something like “withings coupons” or something like that. But I don’t believe it’s available in stores.
Brandon–Thanks a lot! I would highly recommend the scale. It’s really awesome and the weights seem very accurate to me. With my old scale I could get on it 5 times in 1 minute and get 5 different results. But not with this one: It’s always the same. Plus, you can keep track of up to 8 users on the same account–more than enough for almost every family!
Chris–You’re right, the scale has been getting a lot of press. I haven’t really thought about tweeting my weight, mostly because posting it at Get Fit Slowly holds me plenty accountable. I have 3000 subscribers to GFS, but only like 55 twitter followers so I get more bang for my buck at GFS. But if it will help you, say the word and I’ll start tweeting!
Hi
How comes that decreasing the carb intake makes feel full ? I would have thought the contrary… Carb means pasta, rice and bread, right ? Here in Corsica we have a culture that really doesn’t make us fight pasta !!
Man, that scale looks sweet. Pricey, but sweet.

I reckon it doesn’t matter how accurate the bodyfat meter is as long as the trend is good!
That’s the approach I take with my scale at least.

i didn’t know this technology exists – pretty cool – i go in spurts – right now i seem to be obsessed with the scale – can hardly wait to step on in the morning – i don’t know whether that is good or bad
