After dropping the kids off at school, I had 30 minutes to kill before heading back to volunteer in Megan’s classroom. I picked up my latest issue of Runners World and opened up directly to the article entitled, “Energy Crisis.” The article wasn’t that good, but I added it to my list of signs that I’d been receiving. Yeah, I’m starting to feel a little bit tired and run down. Let’s evaluate, shall we?

Running With ITBS–A Painful Situation

Last week, after our 20 miler, I noticed some pretty serious cramping in my left calf. It went away by Tuesday’s run and didn’t recur until about mile 11 yesterday. The last five miles were pretty tough and last night my calf was very tender. It feels as if it’s tied up in knots that won’t let go. If I flex it, it cramps up more, and if I stretch it, it feels a bit better. So I’ve been stretching and taking Advil. This week I’ll rest it up, keep on stretching, icing, and massaging and hopefully it will get better. We’ll see…

Weightloss Details: Calories

I’ve said it before, one of the many keys to losing weight is to count your calories and create a deficit each day. When I was just starting out, I was in terrible shape. I couldn’t count on consistent exercise as a way to create a calorie deficit because I hated doing it so much. The way that I chose to create my deficit was to actually reduce my food intake by 500 calories per day.
