Then I remembered that I try and write motivational and inspirational stuff on my blog. So I just searched GFS instead and came across a few interesting posts from way back. It’s nice to go back (and also a little bit scary) and read some of the thoughts and see how far I’ve come as well as seeing the improvements that I still need to make.
Here’s what my search dug up:
- I write about running…a lot!
- Pam is an inspiration to me.
- I’ve tapered for a race before…many times.
- I’m big on positive thinking.
- I still sometimes lose my way and need help finding my motivation.
After reading those posts, and reliving the progress that I’ve made over the years, I start to believe even more that I CAN run this 50K as fast as I want to run it. I’ve set pretty lofty goals for this upcoming race as I’m trying to PR at this distance by 50 minutes! Yes, the course is much flatter and more runnable than my previous 50k’s; but 50 minutes is still 50 minutes. I’m hoping to see a 4 as the first number on the clock when I come across the finish line. It’s going to be tough, but I know I’ve got it in me. Now it’s just time to go do it.
